Do biblical angels have wings?

It is nearly impossible to picture an angel without wings as this has been their popular depiction in art for centuries.

Angels are mentioned almost 300 times in the Bible. They can appear similar to a human, or as a being of light, but they are never described as possessing wings.

The main source of this myth may be the “Seraphim” and “Cherubim.” Isaiah 6 describes Seraphim as having wings and Ezekiel 1 & 10 describe Cherubim as having wings. But the Bible does not say that Seraphim and Cherubim are actually angels. These beings are said to worship and obey God, but are not given any other angelic attributes (messengers, comforters).

Angels are sometimes described in the Bible as floating or flying, leading to the natural conclusion that they accomplish this with wings. But, as entities with supernatural powers, wings are not a requirement. They are also far too busy to sit on clouds, play the harp or polish their halos!
